Exploring Greece and Rome September 2026

ANCIENT WORLDS & THE APOSTLE PAUL

As we travel through the ancient ruins of Greece, we will explore the cities and stories of the Apostle Paul in Greece, as they took place: Thessalonica, Philippi, Corinth, Athens, Ephesus, and several others.

As part of the Greece portion, we will enjoy a 3-day Mediterranean Cruise to Greek islands such as Crete (where Titus pastored), Santorini, and Mykonos.

We'll then fly to Rome for four days. Since our focus is Paul (and not Peter), we'll tour many places people miss, such as Osta Antica (ancient ruins of a port city that Paul would've landed at), Mamertime prison (where Paul was jailed), St. Paul's Cathedral (where Paul is buried), the Forum (where Paul interacted with Romans), and the catacombs.

This is a can't-miss tour for every student of the Apostle Paul, his writings, and 1st century church, regardless of your level.

MODERN DENOMINATIONS 101

Have you ever wondered where these various church denominations originated? And how do they differ?

Then buckle up, buttercup, and prepare to travel through the 16th and 17th centuries exploring the Protestant Reformation..."Modern Denominations 101."

We'll begin in Geneva, Switzerland, learning about John Calvin (Presbyterians), move to Bern and Zurich to understand Ulrich Zwingli and the Anabaptists (Amish, Mennonites, Baptists). Then it's Strasbourg, France (Bucer), and on to Germany (Worms, Wartburg, Heidelberg, Wittenberg) to learn the Lutheran story, including famous pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer (Berlin).

Our extension continues with a flight to London, England, for two days of exploration in the Church of England (Anglican) or the Episcopal Church (as it is known here in America). We'll also tour Wesley's Chapel (the home of Methodism) and the Baptist church where Charles Spurgeon preached.

Then we'll head to Scotland (Edinburgh) to finish with a look at John Knox and the Scottish-Presbyterian Reformation.

This "fall colors" tour of church history is a must for every history student, denominational leader, and pastor.
